Precision iRacing Setups – O’Reilly Las Vegas

Description

To master Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series (formerly the Xfinity Series), you have to blend aggressive momentum with extreme tire patience. Las Vegas is a fast, bumpy 1.5-mile tri-oval that absolutely cooks the right-side tires.
Because your driving preference relies on lateral grip and a planted rear end, handling the O’Reilly car requires a highly calculated approach—especially in the center of the corners where the bumps try to upset the chassis and snap the back end loose
Qualifying Strategy:
1. The Out-Lap (Build Your Momentum)
Your qualifying time is heavily determined by how fast you cross the start/finish line to start Lap 1.
  • Warm the Tires: On the out-lap, run right against the outside wall down the backstretch and through Turns 3 and 4. Running in the “bubble of air” next to the wall builds load and brings the right-side tires up to temperature.
  • The Launch: Coming off Turn 4 on the out-lap, stay high, then diamond the corner down toward the frontstretch wall to get a straight, high-speed run across the green restart zone to take the green flag.
2. Turns 1 and 2: The Seam Line (Fastest Route)
While the bottom lane is best for saving tires in the race, it is generally not the fastest qualifying line because it tightens the radius too much.
  • The Line: Target the first or second track seam out from the bottom white line. Straddling this seam allows you to keep a wider arc.
  • Throttle Control: Enter the corner with a very slight, quick lift to let the nose drop and settle over the bumps. Once the car settles onto the seam, smoothly but quickly mat the throttle back to 100%. Keeping the car on this wider arc prevents the front from plowing and protects the rear end from stepping out aggressively.
3. Turns 3 and 4: Late Apex to the Bottom
Turns 3 and 4 are flatter, tighter, and slicker than 1 and 2, making it much easier to slide the rear tires.
  • The Line: Enter very wide from the outside wall, but aim for a late apex that brings your left-side tires directly down to the bottom white line at the center of the corner.
  • Throttle Control: You will need a more substantial lift here than in Turn 1. Do a full lift or heavy modulation on entry to let the car rotate down to the bottom white line. Do not rush to full throttle; hold a maintenance throttle (50–75%) until the car hooks the bottom lane. Once it rotates, squeeze it to 100%.
  • The Exit: As you come off Turn 4, let the car naturally wash out toward the wall, then turn down slightly across the dogleg to cut the apron and take the straightest, shortest line to the timing loop.

Race Setup

A balanced, race-ready setup built for high-speed stability, consistent long-run pace, and strong corner-exit speed as the tires begin to wear.

The race setup is designed to remain predictable in traffic while giving the driver enough versatility to move between lanes, manage dirty air, and maintain momentum throughout a fuel run.

Qualifying Setup

A faster, more aggressive setup designed to maximize aerodynamic efficiency, short-run grip, and single-lap speed.

Setup Notes

Helpful notes from our builders covering driving feel, preferred racing lines, throttle application, dirty-air behavior, and what to expect as the run develops.
