Description
EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway) is one of the most unique tracks on the NASCAR schedule. It’s a 1.54-mile quad-oval with 28° of banking that was repaved and reprofiled in 2021 to create superspeedway-style racing. Although it’s much shorter than Daytona or Talladega, Cup cars race in tight packs at nearly 190 mph, making drafting, momentum, and racecraft far more important than raw handling.
The key to being fast in the Cup car
The Next Gen Cup car is extremely aero-sensitive. Your speed depends on keeping momentum and using the draft efficiently.
The fastest drivers focus on:
- Making smooth steering inputs.
- Staying committed to the throttle when the car is stable.
- Timing runs rather than forcing passes.
- Maintaining track position without overheating the tires.
