Driving the NASCAR Cup car (Next Gen) around Darlington Raceway in iRacing requires a fundamentally different strategy than the lower series. Because the Next Gen car features a massive underbody diffuser, independent rear suspension, and wider tires, it is highly sensitive to track geometry and clean air. If you scrape the right side against the fence, the underbody and toe-link damage will destroy your handling instantly

Corner-by-Corner Track Guide

Turns 1 & 2: Enter high near wall ➔ Smooth lift at Cookout sign ➔ Hook lefts on bottom seam ➔ Straight shot off Turn 2.
Turns 3 & 4: Lift early ➔ Drag brakes to bottom white line ➔ Smoothly modulate ➔ Wait for straightaway to floor it.

Turns 1 and 2: The Sweeping Launch Pad

Your overall lap time heavily depends on how much speed you carry off the exit of Turn 2. Treat 1 and 2 as a single, sweeping arc rather than two distinct corners.

1. Entry: Drive deep right against the outside wall. Use the Cookout sign on the fence as your visual marker to completely breathe off the throttle.
2. Apex: Let the heavy banking catch the car. Drag a touch of brake to settle the nose, aiming to place your left-side tires directly on or below the dashed white seam at the bottom
3. Exit: Pick up partial throttle (around 40% to 50%) to settle the chassis. Let the car naturally track out to the wall. If you find yourself in a four-wheel slide up into the fence, you applied too much throttle too early. Strive for the straightest possible exit angle down the backstretch.

Turns 3 and 4: The Narrow Pinch

Turns 3 and 4 are flat, narrow, and incredibly easy to overdrive. Do not overcomplicate this corner; treat it like a traditional intermediate track.

Entry: Back your entry up significantly. Lift early and drag your brakes smoothly to scrub speed before the car hits the center compression zone.
Apex: Hug the bottom white line tightly. While a “diamond” line (drifting up and cutting back down) can give a minor speed burst, wrapping the low white line is the safest line for preserving the right-front tire on a long run.
Exit: The track loses banking rapidly on exit, causing the rear end to snap. Maintain a partial throttle position and wait until the car is entirely straight on the front stretch before going 100% full throttle
