Description
- Stay in 5th Gear: Do not downshift to 4th gear during the race. Running 5th gear lowers the engine’s RPMs, which acts as a built-in form of traction control. It heavily mitigates wheel spin and prevents the car from snapping sideways when you lay into the gas.
- Brake Dependency: Because you are in 5th gear, you lose engine braking. You will have to depend strictly on the pedal to slow the heavy stock car down.
- Floating Entry: Lift off the throttle early and “float” the car down into the banking. Use a brief, smooth application of trail-braking (10% to 20% pressure) just to compress the nose and initiate rotation.
- The Apex Compression: When the car settles into the apex, you will feel the banking catch the chassis. In Turns 1 and 2, be prepared for a distinct bump on the bottom lane—overcharging the entry will cause you to smash this bump, instantly unloading your tires and forcing the car up the track.
- Turns 1 & 2: Standard entry. Float it down, let it track the bottom, and drive out.
- Turns 3 & 4: This end is significantly tighter, and the exit of Turn 4 “pinches off” sharply toward the frontstretch wall. You need a shallower, straighter entry into Turn 3 to hook the left-front tire hard against the yellow paint early. If you enter too wide, the car will wash up on exit and you will slam the outside wall coming off Turn 4.
- Step-by-Step Gas: The second you transition off the brake at the apex, pick up a maintenance throttle (around 30% to 50%) to stabilize the rear.
- Unwind to Commit: Slowly roll the throttle to 100% as you unwind the steering wheel out toward the wall. If you stay locked at full steering lock while stabbing the throttle, the independent rear suspension will snap, and you will loop the car.
- Pit entry is strictly between Turns 1 and 2 (marked by an orange line).
- You must run pit road speed around the entire circumference of the track below the blue line. Because it takes so long to drive the full loop at pit speed, never pit under green-flag conditions unless it is an absolute emergency, as you will instantly lose multiple laps.
Race Setup
A balanced, race-ready Next Gen setup built for versatility, predictable rotation, and strong forward drive across multiple racing grooves.
The race setup is designed and taken into account for the fact that Bristol is a precision track. The car must stay perfectly balanced, perfectly straight, and perfectly planted. The teams that win here build setups that minimize drag, maximize platform stability, and give the driver confidence to attack the tricky bumps in the surface.
Qualifying Setup
A faster, more aggressive setup designed to maximize the grip of the newly paved surface and deliver the rotation, responsiveness, and single-lap speed needed for qualifying.
Setup Notes
Helpful notes from our builders covering braking technique, throttle application, preferred racing lines, lane versatility, and what to expect from the car as the tires and track conditions develop.
Bristol is a track that relies heavily on consistency and precise placement of the car, with Precision Speed Solutions you will have no issue with either of those two things!
